Level Indicators

Tank Level Indicators

360 Degree All-Round Visibility – This floating pole type water level gauge, protuding above the tank roof, is the choice for many tank owners. It is ideal for ‘cup and saucer’ tanks.

Highly Visible – High above the tank the level indicator can be seen from far away, in every direction, night or day.

Unaffected by Animals – On top out of harms way, stock can’t reach the Dipstick. Birds cannot perch on the aluminium indicator cap.

2 Metre Pole – A pair of aluminium tubes 25mm diameter x 1.0 metre long press together to make a pole length of 2 metres which is suitable for most tanks. An additional one metre extension tube is available as an optional extra.

Smooth Operation – Precision Delrin guide bushes provide smooth, non-sticking, free movement of the pole.

Insect Proof – Close fitting bushes keep out even the most determined mosquitos.

Sturdy – Angle braces resist wind and reduce stresses on the tank roof.

Australia’s most popular water tank gauge. Since its birth in 1985, more than 70,000 Levetators continue to indicate water level on all types of tanks throughout Australia, New Zealand, Asia, Pacific Islands, USA, Central America, Middle East, and South Africa.

Highly Visible – The bright aluminium indicator with its red band can be seen from afar, more than 100 metres. According to our customers in Australia’s remote outback the indicator can be seen from a plane or helicopter while doing their regular observations of cattle, fences, windmills and water troughs. Even better is the night time visibility thanks to the highly reflective red band.

True Reading – Unlike homemade water level gauges that read back to front, the Levetator shows the actual water level. What you see is what you have.

Simplicity – No gimmicks, no batteries, just a simple float/weight/pulley system.

Easy to Install – All necessary items (template, instructions and fixings) are provided to make it easy for the handyman to mount the Levetator on the tank roof.

Reliability – Year in, year out, the Levetator water level gauge provides reliable service thanks to quality materials and large, free-running pulleys.

How it works

  • The weighted float and indicator are connected to the counterweight by separate cords, each cord running over a pair of pulleys. When the float is half-immersed everything is balanced.
  • Rising liquid level lifts the float up, the counterweight moves down, and the indicator keeps pace with the float.
  • Falling liquid levels causes the weighted float to pull the counterweight up, and again, the indicator keeps pace with the float.
  • At all times the indicator matches the liquid level exactly.

Chemical and Water Tanks alike – Operating on the same principle as the Levetator, the Liquidator tank level indicator uses an external guide tube. The indicator slides up and down on the outside of the tube and the counterweight is contained inside it. Only the float is in contact with the liquid.

Other Liquids – Sodium silicate, waste oil, waste water, effluent, molasses, hydrochloric acid, phosphoric acid, etc. Liquidator liquid level indicators are often used on fertiliser storage tanks and swimming pool hypo and backwash tanks.

True Reading – hether water or chemical, the true-reading Liquidator eliminates possibility of confusion by employees. What you see is what you have. Graduations can be marked on or beside the guide tube for accurate measurement.

Exposed Sites – “Captive” on the guide tube, the diecast aluminium indicator isn’t bothered by wind or other disturbances.

Industrial Tanks – Ideal for fire protection water storage tanks. Stainless steel wire is available as an optional alternative to polyester cord.

Liquidator 2

Liquidator 2 – A more versatile version of the standard Liquidator, it operates on the same principle Driven by the weighted float, the aluminium indicator slides freely up and down on the outside of the guide tube balanced by the counterweight within.

True reading – The indicator matches the level exactly. What you see is what you have. Graduations can be marked on or beside the guide tube for accurate measurement.

Visibility – 100 metres plus, day or night, thanks to the reflective red band.

Tank Type – Concrete, fibreglass, plastic, timber, corrugated steel, steel panels, round, oval, or square, Liquidator 2 will fit them all.

Tank Sizes – Liquidator 2, as supplied, is suitable for tanks up to 3 metres (10′) high, any diameter. Longer cords can be supplied as an option enabling Liquidator 2 to be fitted to taller tanks (up to 9 metres (30′) high).

Chemicals – The only part in contact with the liquid is the polyethylene float. Hence Liquidator 2 is compatible with a wide range of liquids: fertiliser, waste water, molasses, acids, wine, olive oil, chemicals, oils, etc.. And of course, plain water.

As well as the above features, which it has in common with the standard Liquidator, Liquidator 2 has these additional features:

Separate Pulley Housings – Liquidator 2 is supplied as a compact assembly, ready to mount on the tank roof close to the edge. But the the pulley housings can easily be separated and joined by a horizontal length of pipe. This allows the float to be located well away from the edge, or high up on the apex of the tank roof, if desired.

Adaptable to Roof Shapes – Steep roofs up to 450 can easily be accommodated, thanks to the pivotted pulley housing. And the base of the pulley housing can be readily shaped to match roofs with ribs or bulges that are common to plastic tanks nowadays.

Guide Pipe – As the name implies Liquidator 2 is designed to suit 2″ round pipe which is a common size worldwide, readily available from hardware stores and plumbing supplies in either plastic or thin wall metal. Square tubes too, either 2″ square thin wall galvanised or aluminium, or the slightly smaller 50 mm square tube

Simple Installation – In each case mounting can usually be carried out using simple tools. Small holes only need to be drilled in the tank roof. (The only part inside the tank is the float which can be passed through the manhole).

Insect Proof – All moving parts are fully enclosed, and the only point of entry is where the indicator cord emerges. But, tucked up underneath the pulley housing, the cord passes through a close fitting floating grommet, making bit impossible for insects to enter.

Weatherproof – For the same reasons Liquidator 2 is dust and weatherproof too. To be completely sure, silicone rubber should be used at the time of installation to eliminate any gaps so that the gauge is fully sealed against the elements – rain, hail, or snow.

  • A number of optional extras are available:
  • Longer cords (for tanks up to 9 metres (30′) high)
  • Stainless steel wire
  • Brass pulleys
  • Mounting bracket for open top tanks
